There was a post that showed time-lapse photography of the sky overnight to show the vastness of space. While the stars and other celestial formations were beautiful, I find astronomy difficult to comprehend.
A light year is the speed light travels in one year. OK, light goes fast, like really fast. In one earth year, light travels about 6 trillion miles or 6,000,000,000,000. Earth is part of the Milky Way galaxy and it is estimated the diameter of our galaxy is 100,000 light years. I wouldn’t try to find out how many miles that is on your calculator, you’ll run out of 0’s.
Space feels beyond me. I can’t really comprehend a light year. Or 100,000 light years.
I’m more able to understand things like driving speeds and speed limits. However, I do have a theory on speed limits. If you get behind a slow driver or a tractor that’s going 10 mph or a car that is turning, so you need to slow down or stop – the road owes you. The only way the road can pay you back, is going above the speed limit. Speeding allows the road to pay back the debt the road owes you.
I don’t have the algorithm completely refined. My wife contends that my calculations are inadequate, because I never feel the road is ever in a positive position. The road always owes me. I also haven’t tested my theory with an officer of the law. I’m pretty sure the officer and judge would agree with my theory, but they might want to see my algorithm. Unfortunately, that’s still a work in progress.
“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:7 NIV
The reference in Luke is that God knows everything about us and we have worth. It seems a little unfair that it has been easier for God to know me, as the number of my hairs has diminished over the years. The reference to sparrows would have made sense at the time this was written. Sparrows were purchased for a single penny in the ancient world and were a source of food and used in sacrifices.
Simply put —-
We are of worth. So much more than we can envision.
Do not be afraid. God is with us.
The vastness of God’s love is beyond the diameter of the Milky Way.
There is beauty in the world. Even if we don’t completely understand it all.
God be with me as I try to explain my algorithm.

Like space, God is always present, even when we’re totally unaware.
Thanks for the reflections and your theory that the road owes you.
